Meet Doctor Devon Rasmussen
I wanted to make an impact in people’s lives. I know that there’s probably a lot of dentists that say the same thing, but I may have had a little bit of a different avenue to dentistry because I actually started my career as a biomedical researcher. I wanted to have something where I could have a greater balance with my family and so I had a friend who approached me and talked to me about dentistry. He was a dentist. In watching his interaction with the patients, watching him change patients’ smile and in essence change their lives, I thought, you know, this would be something where I could apply the science background that I really enjoy, but also have the facet of being able to interact with people. Watching their nervousness, their reservation towards dentistry, just watching that melt away. It’s an incredible thing to watch them move past that fear, watch them gain these small victories, and as they gain these small victories, they become braver and braver. And then in the end, they walk out of here with this incredible smile, with no pain in their mouth, and they walk out of here fulfilled by the experience.
