Talk about very personal and the whole staff was absolutely amazing they are super nice. All the dentist that I’ve been through throughout my lifetime and this is the first office who was so gentle to my teeth and the things they did while I was there I would normally walk out with my mouth sore for the rest of the day and it would hurt the whole time that these procedures were being done to me at other offices but at this office I felt absolutely nothing and I had no soreness in my mouth after the fact. Common Questions About Sinus Lifts
A sinus lift is a type of bone graft for the upper jaw. It is used when the upper jaw isn’t deep enough to support dental implants. We will raise the floor of the sinuses and insert bone material in the space so that new bone will grow there. In a few months, there will be sufficient bone to support your implants and replacement teeth.
As with other oral surgery procedures, we’ll numb your mouth with local anesthesia. You can also choose to receive dental sedation. Following the procedure, you may experience some bleeding and/or swelling. Most patients experience mild discomfort only and for no more than a few days. We’ll provide you with an antibiotic to prevent infection and can also suggest medication to relieve pain.
It is necessary to perform a sinus lift if a patient needs upper implants, but their upper jaw is not strong or thick enough to support them. Additionally, the sinus membrane is often in the way of implants. A sinus lift moves the sinuses up and makes room for added bone material that will help strengthen the jawbone.
